Is there a 10 run rule in Legion baseball? ›

During the regular season, departments may allow senior and junior teams to play seven-inning games with a 10-run mercy rule after 5 innings of play or 4½ innings if the home team has the last at-bat. All national tournaments will follow rules established by The American Legion's National Americanism Commission.

American Legion Baseball in the modern era

Today, the program registers teams in all 50 states plus Canada. Each year young people, ages 13 to 19, participate.

History. The American Legion first sponsored a baseball league in 1925. In the first American Legion Baseball World Series, Yonkers, New York, Post 321 beat a team from Pocatello, Idaho, in Philadelphia in 1926.

National tournament play will feature seven-inning games

Departments will still have the option to play nine-inning games during the regular season, however, beginning at the state tournament and all the way through the American Legion World Series, games will be seven innings.

Players are expected to uphold the Legion Code of Sportsmanship at all times. In short: players will keep their temper regardless of victory or defeat, be good sportsmen and never heckle opposing players, umpires or spectators.

The basic recommended uniform is dark slacks, socks and shoes; white Legion polo; and Legion cap.
